GCL Overview

Evolving from its first steps in 1942, GCL has transcended the tides of time to grow into a multi-crore business conglomerate. Late Shri Hari Chandji Sugandhi was the ideal patriarch to the group which, similar to the man, had very humble beginnings in Old Delhi.

Carving its path through an unfamiliar and challenging state of affairs, GCL has forged a unique identity within the Indian Tobacco Industry. Driven by dynamic entrepreneurialism, GCL has transformed itself into a modern and thriving enterprise, dominating the large Tobacco Industry of India. Transforming local flavours and their essence into inspiring and exotic experiences helped Gopal Corp give customers an unforgettable experience, and helped establish their footing in the Indian market.

With its vision of perfectly fusing the traditional with the exotic, GCL is now venturing into the territory of food, power and hospitality. Making its mark in the FMCG sector, GCL has its own brand of delicious and unique potato chips - “Tat-O”. GCL has also established itself in the domain of snacks by launching Lalaji Namkeens, its own namkeen and dry snacks brand.

Currently, the GCL is exploring greater opportunities in the power sector with the overwhelming success of its Himachal Pradesh power project. Also, making steady and promising headway into the hospitality sector is “The Fortune Grace'' in Mussoorie. GCL’s venture into hospitality was accomplished via an alliance with the Welcome Group - India’s 2nd largest hospitality chain.

Today, GCL is a multi-product – multi-disciplinary enterprise, with its ventures reaching consumers and people across the Indian subcontinent. GCL recognises the responsibility that comes with being an industry leader, and has established the Gopal Foundation that mobilises resources available with the group to social causes and projects across the country in order to promote well-being of society and help the most vulnerable sects and communities across India.
